The Electric Power Systems group is seeking an entry-level Communication Systems Interface Engineer to support the development, integration, and verification of aerospace communication interfaces and serial data bus architectures used in electrical power generation and distribution systems.
This position is intended for a recent engineering graduate who is interested in aerospace systems, embedded communication interfaces, laboratory testing, and systems engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced systems, hardware, software, simulation, and test engineers while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to become an independent contributor.
What You Will Do:
• Support the design and development of communication and interface solutions for aerospace electrical power systems.
• Assist in defining interface I/O, signal characteristics, data paths, and communication strategies.
• Analyze system-level requirements and help decompose them into hardware, software, simulation, and verification requirements.
• Participate in Agile activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, task estimation, and technical reviews.
• Track task progress, technical risks, dependencies, and completion status using tools such as JIRA.
• Support the development of interface verification strategies, simulation approaches, test procedures, and system-level test plans.
What you will Learn:
• How to maintain requirements traceability, configuration control, and engineering documentation using tools such as DOORS, Synergy, JIRA, and version-control systems.
• How to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve interface issues and support program milestones.
• How to present technical findings, task status, test results, and recommendations to engineering team members and project leadership.
• How to follow established engineering processes, design assurance practices, cybersecurity requirements, and quality standards.
• Continue developing knowledge of aerospace communication standards, electrical interfaces, systems engineering practices, and laboratory integration methods.
Qualifications You Must Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics major obtained by start date.
• Academic, internship, cooperative education, laboratory, research, project, or hobbyist experience involving electrical systems, embedded systems, communication interfaces, software, simulation, or system testing.
Qualifications We Prefer:
• Familiarity with one or more aerospace or industrial communication standards, including ARINC 429, ARINC 664/AFDX, ARINC 825/CAN, MIL-STD-1553B, Ethernet, or similar protocols.
• Exposure to Ethernet, CAN, serial communication hardware, or embedded interfaces.
• Basic understanding of digital electronics, electrical interfaces, signal integrity, transmission lines, or communication network concepts.
• Experience using laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, bus analyzers, or multimeters.
• Basic programming or scripting experience using Python, VBA, XML, MATLAB, C, C++, or similar languages and tools.
