About this role

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support commercial construction projects with a strong focus on Office Tenant Improvement (TI) work. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, and clients to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting fast-paced commercial TI projects and understands the coordination required for occupied buildings, office renovations, and tenant build-outs.
Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination
Support commercial and office TI projects from preconstruction through closeout
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, material deliveries, and project schedules
Track project progress, budgets, and procurement activities
Review plans, specifications, and contract documents for accuracy and scope coordination
Help maintain project schedules and assist with short-interval planning
Participate in OAC meetings, subcontractor meetings, and site walks
Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and quality control requirements
Assist with permit tracking, inspections, punch lists, and project closeout documentation
Maintain strong communication with clients, architects, engineers, and field teams
Support projects in active or occupied commercial environments with minimal disruption to tenants
Requirements
2+ years of experience in commercial construction as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar role
Experience supporting Office TI / Tenant Improvement projects required
Understanding of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and documentation
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar platforms
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
Field coordination experience is a plus
