🚀 THE MISSION

We have an ambitious mission: to unlock access to healthcare by making every appointment in the NHS bookable. To reach national scale, our products must be clinically safe, evidence-backed, and trusted by every layer of the NHS — from frontline clinicians to national bodies.

We’re hiring a GMC-registered clinician who will operate as Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) for the company. You’ll report to Lydia (Founding Clinician & Chief of Staff), and work closely and cross-functionally with our product teams.

🎯 GOAL EXPECTATIONS

The majority of your role will be focused on strategic projects to help us unlock our big ambitious target of 500,000 Weekly Appointments Booked across the NHS. You will be part of our exciting new Clinical Team, comprising 2 CSOs and 1 regulatory lead.

Your goals:

1. Evolve our product-development and incident-management processes to the highest standards.

2. Own clinical safety within the company, incident investigation and management.

3. Work with product teams on the clinical safety of new features and products, ensuring safety-led design across all of our products.

📅 YOUR 30/90 DAY PLAN

BY DAY 30: RECEIVE THE BATON AND GET UP TO SPEED

You will have:

- Work closely with our existing Clinical Safety Officer, Ria, to understand our clinical safety system and processes, products and risks so that you can work independently.

- Made your own evaluation of our clinical-safety across all product lines, and flagged any issues.

- Reviewed and improved how we handle clinical incidents.

- Run relevant introductory hazard workshops with product + engineering.

BY DAY 90: IMPLEMENT

You will have:

- Maintained and uplifted (where relevant) all key DCB0129 artefacts.

- Completed at least one full hazard analysis (SWIFT).

- Lead the post-market surveillance process and reporting cadence.

- Managed any clinical safety incidents from identification to communication.

- Supported/ drove implementation and employee adoption of ISO13485 with a focus on usability and simplicity.

- Continued to embed clinical safety in product rituals (PRDs, design reviews, release gates).

Output: An operational clinical-safety system is underway and Healthtech-1 is positioned as a clinically trustworthy product ready for national scale.

🔍 SCOPE OF THE ROLE

YOU FULLY OWN:

- Clinical safety for all Healthtech-1 products

- DCB0129 documentation, safety cases, hazard logs, clinical safety reports

- Hazard identification workshops and risk analysis

- Clinical incident investigation, communication, and close-loop follow up

YOU CO-OWN (WITH PRODUCT AND ENGINEERING):

- Safety requirements in PRDs, design reviews, and release gates

- Data required for safety monitoring and risk detection

- Risk mitigations that require product changes or design decisions

YOU INFLUENCE (BUT DO NOT OWN):

- Product roadmap

- NHS regional relationships and ICB commercial strategy

- IG, cyber security, and non clinical compliance

YOU DO NOT OWN:

- Day to day delivery

- Commercial targets

- Engineering resourcing or timelines

👍 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

- You must be a doctor registered with the GMC (you do not need licence to practise)

- You must have experience practicing in the NHS

👌 NICE TO HAVE EXPERIENCE

- Primary care experience

- Incident management work

- Previous CSO experience in product teams

💪🏼 4 days in the office and 1 day WFH (for most roles). We highly prioritise in-person communication and prefer candidates who want to work 4+ days a week in the office. Our anchor days are Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri. Homemade breakfast and lunch are on the house every day when you're in the office, ensuring you're fuelled for success!
